Columbia College Athletics Remembers Leonard Price
COLUMBIA, S.C.- Columbia College athletics is saddened by the passing of long time Board of Trustee member, Leonard Price. Price not only had his hand at influencing the young minds at Columbia College, by his giving spirit, but helped Columbia College Athletics expand its programs.
Price worked closely with former Columbia College President Caroline Whitson and former Athletic Director, Ana Oliver with the expansion of Columbia College's athletic facilities. This notable philanthropic effort allowed the creation of the softball program, now thriving in its 5th year and the addition of the lacrosse program beginning in 2013.
A former CEO of Budweiser, Price donated more than $1 million to Columbia College from which his daughter graduated. A regular at the Annual Koala Classic Golf Tournament, Price served as a trustee from 2003-10. He was awarded the Medaillion, Columbia College's highest honor, in 2011.
The Leonard Price Pavllion is the center of new athletic facilities which is home to many Columbia College student activites throughout the year when not being utilized by athletic events. Price will be missed but his legacy is an example to our student-athletes as he embodied the five core values of the Champions of Character iniative; Intengrity, Responsibility, Sportsmanship, Respect, and Servant Leadership.
