Columbia College Joins the AAC

COLUMBIA, S.C. - Director of Athletics Ana Oliver announced that Columbia College will join the Appalachian Athletic Conference for the 2011-12 season.  This will be the final year competing in the Southern States Athletic Conference for the Fighting Koalas, who will officially leave the SSAC July 1, 2011.

Columbia College joined the SSAC for the 2005-06 season.  Ana Oliver is excited about prospects for the program stating, “After long conversations with our administration and my staff, we decided that the SSAC was no longer the best geographical fit for our institution.  We are grateful for our time in the SSAC and are very excited about the experience our student-athletes will have in the AAC.”

The Appalachian Athletic Conference currently sponsors championships in fourteen sports and has eight members in five Southeastern States: Bluefield (VA), Bryan (TN), Milligan (TN), Montreat (NC), Reinhardt (GA), Tennessee Wesleyan (TN), Union (KY), and Virginia Intermont (VA).
