Softball Signs Four
Head coach, James Morrison, signed four players to compete next
year at Columbia College. Brittany Funderburk, Kateland McDaniel,
Michele Miller, and Christen Bucy will join the Koalas’
softball team for their first season in the Southern States
Athletic Conference.
Brittany Funderburk comes from Great Falls High School in Great
Falls, SC. Brittany, an infielder with a strong arm and good bat,
is the first softball player to sign with a college from Great
Falls High School and is very excited to play in college next
fall.
Kateland McDaniel arrives from Carolina Academy in Greenville, SC.
Coach Morrison said, “Kateland has good speed and great
grades. She will be a great fit for the softball
program.”
Michele Miller will graduate from Lake View High School in Lake
View, SC. Daughter of Lisa and Mitchell Miller, Michele was an
outfielder and team captain for her high school team. Coach
Morrison said, “She will fit in with Columbia College very
well and is ready to make the jump to the college game.”
Also, joining the Koalas’ softball program is Christen Bucy,
a pitcher and infielder from Pee Dee Academy in Mullins, SC.
Christen has played varsity at Pee Dee Academy since the 7th grade
and will add depth the Koalas pitching staff. She was the team
captain and starting pitcher for Pee Dee. Coach Morrison said,
“Christen is about as excited as I am to have her attending
and playing softball at Columbia College next season.”
