Softball Celebrates First Home Event

Columbia College experienced its first taste of softball on Sunday afternoon, October 26, when the Fighting Koalas took Sutton Field in a scrimmage double-header against Anderson University.

On hand to support the Fighting Koalas were Jack and Maggie Sutton, owners of Sutton Construction in Rock Hill, South Carolina, who donated the grading for the field now named in their honor.  Also in attendance were Alec Sutton and wife and family, Becca Long, a 1988 graduate of Columbia College, and Alex Mahon, granddaughter of the Suttons and a current student at Columbia College.

The Koala fans were treated to a perfect sunny afternoon of competitive softball.  Supporters saw that good things are to come when Courtney Kickery hit the first- ever home run at Sutton Field in game one.  After the games, players, family and fans enjoyed food off the grill and celebrated the joys that will follow as Columbia College softball continues to take the field.
