Softball Adds Local Standouts

COLUMBIA, S.C. - Head softball coach, James Morrison, announced the signing of Alexis Lucas and Brittany Barr from nearby Brookland-Cayce and Chapin High School.

Lucas comes to Columbia College from the successful Brookland-Cayce program.  A pitcher and first baseman, Lucas’ Brookland-Cayce team won the 2009 3A lower state championship.  They followed up in 2010 as the 3A district champions and region co-champions. 

Barr brings a list of accolades from the Chapin Eagles.  She pitched for the Eagles squad with a record of 13-0, hit .352 with three home runs, and finished in the final four 3A and third in the state.  Barr was named all-region her sophomore, junior and senior seasons, co-region player her junior year, region player of the year her senior year, and all state honors her junior and senior seasons.   She was also picked to play in the North – South game set to take place in June.  Barr said, “I can’t wait to play with the Koalas this year!”
