Softball Splits with Emmanuel College
COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Fighting Koalas spilt with Emmanuel College today; 1-3 and 4-2 at Sutton Softball Stadium.
The first game of the night saw Columbia struggling in the outfield letting runs score on dropped fly balls. The Fighting Koalas no. 1 pitcher, Erin Walker couldn't shut down Emmanuel's offense and the Lady Lions took the front end of the double header 3-1.
Game two from Columbia was slow to start with veteran pitcher Brittany Barr on the mound. The Lady Lions jumped out to an early lead but Columbia answered back in the bottom of the 5th with aggressive base running and took the lead 3-2. Emmanuel didn't shy away and put the pressure on the Fighting Koalas in the top of the 6th. Barr struggled on the mound but confident defense from returners Courtney McGaha and shortstop, Crystal Hughes closed out the inning with 2 LOB.
Columbia solidified the win with a run in the 6th to push the lead to 2 and Barr closed out in the top of the 7th. The win takes Columbia to 14-10 overall and they remain .500 in AAC play at 4-4. The Milligan double header has been rescheduled for Monday, April 1st at Columbia. Times are TBD.
