Basketball Signs Smith
COLUMBIA, S.C.- Columbia College’s basketball program announces the signing of Taylor Smith, a senior post player from Independence High School in Charlotte, NC. Smith officially joined the Koalas’ roster on Friday April 15, said head coach Maria Audas. Smith’s mom Diane, Independence HS coach Natalie Davis and Smith’s AAU coach Fred Staton were on-hand to congratulate Smith.

Basketball Signs Two
COLUMBIA, S.C. - Columbia College’s basketball program welcomed the addition of two players to the 2011-12 roster. Signing with the Koalas were Amber Poston, a senior post from Hannah-Pamplico High School in Pamplico, SC, and Coretta Johnson, who joins the team following an accomplished career at Timberland High School in St. Stephens, SC.

Basketball Wins Big on the Road
MOUNT VERNON, G.A.-The Fighting Koalas won big today with a final score of 79-73 over Brewton-Parker Lady Barons. This marks the 2nd conference win for Columbia and 6th overall. This marks the most wins since the start of the program in 2005. Coach Maria Audas couldn’t be more please with her team, “The team showed great composure today. This is exactly the type of play we hope to see in this upcoming week.”

Basketball Wins at the Buzzer
COLUMBIA, S.C. - An exciting last minute shot pushed the Fighting Koalas basketball team to their first conference win of the season, 63-62 over Brewton-Parker College last night. Trailing 35-27 at the break, Columbia College opened the second half on an 8-2 run and held tough until the game winning shot by Kiara Fefie with only 3 seconds remaining.

Thrilling Double Overtime Battle
COLUMBIA, S.C. - Columbia College left all their effort on the floor last night in a thrilling double overtime conference game against Southern Wesleyan University. The Fighting Koalas got out to an early 5-1 lead on the Warriors and seemed to have control of the tempo. Columbia College Loses on the Road
CLEVELAND, G.A. - The Fighting Koalas basketball team lost a heartbreaker to Truett-McConnell College this past Saturday, January 15th 2011 in a SSAC East division battle. Columbia College controlled the pace of the first half and shined behind the 3 point shooting of guards Krystle Remigio and Laporcha Williams. Williams led Columbia with 16 points on a night where four players scored in double digits. The Koalas ended the first half shooting .500 and led 42-32.

COLUMBIA, S.C.- The Columbia College basketball team drops to losses on the road this week closing the fall semester 4-6. The Fighting Koalas struggled against Montreat College only putting up 48 points and getting out rebounded 46-27.

Koalas Win on Buzzer Beater
COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Fighting Koalas beat the Warner University Royals this afternoon in a dramatic finish 65-63. Columbia College struggled with foul trouble early in the first half, but held strong going into the halftime down by 4 points. The Fighting Koalas came out in the second half with hot shooting and took an 8 point advantage over the Royals 38-30. Columbia looked to expand the lead, but the Royals fought their way back into the game behind Ivana Soberal’s game high 21 points.

COLUMBIA, S.C.- The Columbia College basketball team put on a dominant performance tonight against the Lady Yellow Jackets of Allen University. Led by Senior center, Emmie Bland, the Fighting Koalas out rebounded the visitors 36-30 and finished with 5 more offensive rebounds. Bland finished the night with 16 points and 7 rebounds in the paint.

Despite a strong second half effort, the Columbia College basketball team fell 82-59 to #6 ranked Lee University. Junior Emmie Bland recorded 25 points and 13 rebounds in the loss, both game highs.

The Fighting Koalas turned over the victory to the visiting Southern Wesleyan Warriors Tuesday night 85-49. Columbia was led by junior Kiara Fefie who scored a game high 19 points in the loss, but it was not enough to overcome the Koalas’ 37 turnovers.

Junior point guard, Kiara Fefie, had the best game of her career Thursday night. She led Columbia in scoring with 21 points and for the first time this season on the glass with 9 rebounds. However, after the final horn sounded, visiting Auburn-Montgomery outscored Columbia 70-49.
