Koalas Fall to Southern Wesleyan
Columbia College went on the road to play SSAC member Southern Wesleyan University Tuesday and could not overcome a poor first half against the Warriors, losing 106-71.
Columbia College held close through much of the first half against the Lady Warriors, but hit another tough spell, being outscored 21-6 to close the half. The run by the Warriors was sparked by several Columbia turnovers. The second half proved to be better basketball for the Koalas, putting up 44 points, despite missing several layups and shooting only 10-of-28 from the free throw line. Sophomore Kiara Fefie played her best half of the season, scoring 14 of her 17 points in the second half and recording 5 of her 6 assists. Sophomore Emmie Bland also added 15 points and 5 rebounds in the loss.
Chinessia Lee scored 27 points to lead Southern Wesleyan University. Her 22 point came at the beginning of the second half, which marked 1,000 points in her three seasons at Southern Wesleyan.
Columbia College will look to make it a sweet Valentine's Day when they host Auburn University of Montgomery at 2:00 pm in the Godbold Center.
