Basketball Signs Three Players for the Fall

Stephen Burns, head basketball coach, announced the signing of three players for next year's team.  Kiristen Robinson, Maria Dunbar, and Desiree O'neal will join the Fighting Koalas basketball team when school starts in August.

Kiristen Robinson is a 5-8 guard who started for Stephenson HS in Stone Mountain, GA.  Robinson helped Stephenson High School to a 29-3 record and the 2008 Georgia 5A State Champion.  Kiristen averaged 8 points, 6 assists, 4 steals, and 4 rebounds a game for the Jaguars.

Maria Dunbar comes to Columbia College from Silver Bluff Hish School in Aiken, SC.  Dunbar is a 5-6 shooting guard who started for the Lady Bulldog team who had a 20-3 record her senior season.  Silver Bluff's season went until the second round of the AA state playoffs.  She is the first Lady Bulldog to sign to play college basketball in 20 years, according to Coach Robbie McKenzie.

Desiree O'neal arrives in Columbia from Lynn University in Boca Raton, FL.  Desiree is from Jacksonville, FL, where she attended Andrew Jackson High School.  She helped lead Andrew Jackson to four district titles, one regional quarterfinal, one semifinal, and one FHSAA Final Four appearance.  In 2007, O'neal was a first team all-state selection while averaging 11.2 points and 11.9 rebounds per game.  Additionally, she averaged 22.2 points and 12.7 rebounds a game in her final season with the Lady Sparks, a club basketball team.
