Williams, Sumter Lead the Fighting Koalas to a Hot Start

COLUMBIA, S.C. - Fueled by junior LaPorcha Williams and sophomore Ashley Sumter, the Fighting Koalas rallied for a 71-61 non-conference victory over Allen University Saturday (Oct. 31) evening. 

The Fighting Koalas gained a 1-0 hot start while the Yellow Jackets fell to 0-1. Columbia College returns to the court Friday (Nov. 6) with a 6:30 p.m. contest against Florida Memorial College at the Godbold Gymnasium.

The Fighting Koalas are looking forward to a promising season as they started off their season on a good note. LaPorcha Williams led Columbia College with 18 points (4-of-10 from three-point range) while Sumter added 13 points and eight assists. Arielle Nichols added 11 points while Krystal Morissette and Emmie Bland tallied 8 points each.

McCoy led Allen with 19 points and Erby added 17 points and 4 rebounds.
