Kristin Balish also known as “Coach K” came to Columbia College after serving one year as an assistant coach at Newberry College, in Newberry, South Carolina. As the assistant coach she worked with the defense and goalies before accepting the position of head coach.
While in college, Kristin coached for five years with the Wolfpack Lacrosse Club a travel team out of Woodbridge, Virginia. She also ran conditioning/agility training clinics and lacrosse skills clinics for the club. Kristin did one year as the head JV coach for John Paul the Great High School in Dumfries, Virginia.
Kristin is a 2014 graduate of Newberry College, where she played lacrosse as a defender and was the team captain her senior year. She graduated with a bachelor’s of science degree in Physical Education and Recreation Services degree. Prior to Newberry College she played two years at Virginia Wesleyan College where she was a starting D-Wing.
Kristin is an Army Brat who graduated from Forest Park High School in Manassas Virginia. She was a three time varsity letter winner, two year starter, and two-times all district player at Forest Park High School. During her time on the varsity the Lady bruins won the conference two times and had three region tournament appearances. Her senior year she was team captain and awarded the Bruin Award, which an annual award is given to the player who exhibits the characteristics of what a Lady Bruin Lacrosse player, should be on and off the field.
After serving as Assistant Lacrosse Coach at Columbia College for one year, Coach Balish was announced as the 2017-18 Head Coach in May 2017.
