Head soccer coach, Josh Kiper, welcomes the addition of Emily Deary from St. Peter’s RC Secondary School in Dorset, England.
Deary has been playing club soccer since the age of 14. She was named 'Player of the Year' while playing for Broadstone FC U16 in 2006-07 season. In the 2006-07 season, Broadstone went undefeated in its quest to winning the league title and county cup. During her time at Broadstone, Deary was also selected to represent the Dorset county side at the U16 and U18 levels in the same season. Additionally, she participated in the FA UMBRO 5’s competition, qualifying to play in the final round at the new Wembley Stadium, London, the home of English soccer.
In 2007, Deary received a place at the prestigious Chelsea FC Ladies Academy, based in Kingston College, Kingston-upon-Thames, London. As well as studying for a National Diploma in Sport over a 2 year period, the Academy offered a high level of coaching and playing in various competitions. During the 2008 season, she reached the final stages of the England U19 trials. Deary captained the Chelsea side on several occasions and at the end of her final season was awarded ‘Player of the Year’.
Deary’s journey to become a Fighting Koala next season will begin in her hometown of Wimborne, England, where she lives with her mother Tracy, father Adam, and brothers William and Michael. Playing college soccer in the United States has been a long time goal. About her decision to come to Columbia College, Deary said, “I look forward to meeting the other students and team members and hope that there will be many successful seasons ahead.”
