Soccer Defeats Emmanuel

The Fighting Koalas came back from a 1-0 halftime deficit to beat Emmanuel College 3-1 at the Younts Soccer Stadium.

Sophomore Skylarh Thorne came up with the tying and go ahead goals for Columbia early in the second half.  Sophomore Vicki May sealed the game with Columbia's third goal.  Emmanuel kept the pressure on the Koalas' defense, outshooting Columbia 13-9 with shots on goal.  Senior Ashley Eckler came up with 12 saves on the afternoon.

Columbia (4-9-2, 1-6) moves into a tie for seventh with Brewton Parker College who they visit Tuesday afternoon.  The top eight teams will advance to the conference tournament.  If the Koalas can secure the seventh or eighth seed, it will be the first time the Koalas soccer team has qualified for post season play in the SSAC.
