Schwartz Nets 3 in Win Over St. Andrews

Columbia College Soccer dominated the first half to ride out a 5-1 victory over Conference Carolinas member St. Andrews Presbyterian College.  Freshman Samantha Schwartz netted 3 goals in the first half as the Koalas jumped out to a 4-0 lead by halftime.

The Fighting Koalas got off on the right foot in near record timing.  It took only 15 seconds for Columbia to put together their first goal.  Schwartz put Columbia ahead off an assist from Susan Payne and the Koalas never looked back.  Schwartz netted a hat trick in the first half, along with a goal from freshman Emily Deary from 35 yards out with a shot over the keeper.

St. Andrews got on the board with a goal in the second half by Carrie Jones, but the Koalas answered with one from freshman Nancy Parra to hold the four goal lead.  Columbia College will next play at Brenau University on September 19, starting at 4:00 pm.
