Koalas soccer inks Venus Sumpter as fourth signing for 2018

Columbia College Soccer Head Coach Robert Hunter has announced Venus Sumpter as the fourth member of the class of 2018 signing class for the Koalas.

Venus will come to Columbia having graduated from Camden HS, in Camden, SC, where she lettered for three years in both soccer and basketball. As a junior, Venus was named All-Region in soccer.

Outside of high school, she played for Congaree Rapid for a number of years, most recently under the coaching of Robert Sloan.  As a junior, her team won the PMSL State Cup and traveled to Oklahoma to compete in the PMSL Region III Championships.

Upon arriving at Columbia, Venus plans to register in nursing with the intention of becoming a registered nurse upon graduation.

Coach Hunter commented on Venus, "Venus is a physical presence on the field who I believe will be a valuable asset on our roster.  She is fast and has tremendous ability to hold the ball up, as well as a history of scoring goals, and we look forward to seeing how she will adapt to the college game."
