Columbia College Swimming took first place over the weekend in Columbia, South Carolina against Milligan College and the University of North Carolina at Pembroke in their season opening meet. The Koalas held on to a strong lead and won every race they competed in. The team scored a combined result of 146.00 points against UNCP who managed 20.00 points and 136.00 points against Milligan with 55.00. The Koalas beat both teams by a point gap of 81.00 points or more. Additionally, Columbia College had 4 Automatic Qualifying National Cuts (2 relays and 2 individual races) and two 'B' cuts.

Coach Jason Gallaher was pleased with the results overall. "This was a great day of swimming for the entire team. The atmosphere was very positive and this was an outstanding way to kick off our season. Their hard work and concentration on doing things correctly at practice is really paying off, and I'm looking forward to watching them continue to improve throughout the season."
The Koalas swim again at the Women's College Invitational at Converse College this weekend October 7th-8th.
