4th place finish at Brenau Invitational catches award

The Columbia College swim team took 4th place at the Sixth Annual Brenau Invitational edging out 8 of the 12 attending teams. Koala swimmers made tremendous strides in their season as they achieved 100% of their season's best times while setting five new school records in the process. The team was also recognized on the national level yet again with 11 new NAIA National Cuts and 3 new NAIA National 'B' Cuts from the meet.

"The entire team contributed to our success over the weekend." Coach Gallaher was happy to say. "It was absolutely a total team effort, and was one of the best meets ever for our team.  I'm very proud of the way that the team approached this meet and I was very impressed with the way that they raced.  This was an outstanding way to finish our competition for the first semester.  We have a lot to be proud of, and a lot to build on for the back half of our season."

Additionally, Cydney Donnelly was named as the AAC Swimmer/Diver of the Week for the week ending 11/20. Her phenomenal effort during the Brenau Invitational was essential in her consideration for the award. Donnelly made 4 NAIA National Cuts and was 2nd at the invitational in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 58.78 as well as 3rd place in the 200 Backstroke with a time of 2:09.06. Donnelly beat out 66 other swimmers at the meet for her 4th place finish in the 50 Freestyle. Her success was not limited to individual races either. Donnelly was a member of all 5 of the team's scoring relays, including the 400 Medley that placed 2nd out of 16 Relay Teams in which she swam the 100 Butterfly Leg.

This marks Columbia College Swim Team's 3rd weekly award for the season.
