Gallaher comes to Columbia from Sweet Briar College, where he was a 2 time ODAC Conference Coach of the Year, including most recently in the 2013-2014 season. Coach Gallaher has been a head coach for 11 years at the collegiate level, while coaching overall for 19, and has numerous accolades of distinction.
Gallaher coached 7 individual and 16 overall record holders (including relay swimmers) while at Sweet Briar.
Before becoming a coach, he was an NAIA All-American in 6 individual events while swimming at Fairmont State in WV. He was the NAIA Individual National Champion in the 200 butterfly in 1995, while also being a three time individual Penn-Ohio individual conference champion (200 butterfly, 200 backstroke, 400 individual medley). In addition, he was a two event WVIAC conference Champion (200 freestyle, 200 butterfly). In 2010, Jason had the distinct honor of being inducted into the Fairmont State University Athletics Hall of Fame.
Academically, Gallaher was the Fairmont State HPERS Most Outstanding Student for the 1995-96 academic year.

Gallaher is joined in Columbia by his wife Kari, and 9 year old son, Garrett.
