Tennis Gets One on Road Trip

GAINESVILLE, GA - The Fighting Koalas tennis team grabbed a conference win on a tough three match swing.   The tennis team traveled to Brena to play #1 Auburn-Montgomery, Emmanuel College, and # 7 Brenau University. 

Top ranked Brenau and AUM were too much for the Koalas, both defeating Columbia 9-0.  However, Columbia battled with Emmanuel College and captured a 5-4 win.  Columbia took all three doubles matches, but the suspense came in the third set tie breaks of the singles matches.  Keneisha Wittington and Abbagayie Stevenson both won in third set tie breaks.  Stevenson’s match was the last to be played with the match scored tied at 4-4.  With the team victory in limbo, Stevenson came through in the clutch to win 7-4 in the third set tie break.

The victory solidifies a fifth place finish in the conference and the fifth seed in the conference tournament.
