Tennis Wins on the Road
RALEIGH, N.C.- Columbia College Tennis team traveled to Peace College battled for their first win of the 2010-2011 season. With a dominate perfomance from the top two doubles teams the Fighting Koalas won over the Peace Pacers 8-1.
Sophomore Danielle Cupid and Raven Fair out scored the Pacers 8-0 in the number ones double match. The number two doubles team of Ashley Chapman and Keneisha Whittington showed a composed performance winning 8-1 over Peace College's number two doubles teams.
The Singles performances were just as impressive as freshman, Raven Fair won as the number two singles with a score of 6-0,6-0. The veteran junior, Abby Stevenson played a competitive match and couldn't outlast the Pacers number one singles, losing in a heartbreaking 3 set match:6-4,2-6, 10-8.
Coach Lindsey Hughes is proud of her team, "The team played hard today in windy conditions. They showed patience throughout singles and doubles which is what won us the match today." Catch the Tennis team back in action at home on Saturday, February 26th @ 2:00 p.m. against Emmanuel College.
