Columbia Tennis Finishes Season with 6-3 Victory

COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Fighting Koalas tennis team wrapped up their 2012 spring season with a win against AAC opponent Reinhardt Lady Eagles winning 6-3.Columbia finishes the season with an overall record of 5-6 and finished 3rd in the Appalachain Athletic Conference. The Fighting Koalas will head to post season play this weekend in Atlanta, GA.

The team looked solid on Saturday in their last match with wins from Freshman, Lydia Royals 6-1, 6-1. The exciting singles match of the day came from Senior, Abbagayle Stevenson who defeated her opponent at no. 3 singles with scores of 3-6, 6-2, 7-6 (1). Columbia's no. 2 doubles team of Mara Reiss and Stevenson also came through with a win for the Fighting Koalas with a score of 8-4.

Head Coach Lindsey Hughes commented on the 2011-2012 season, "I'm proud of what the team has accomplished this season. They work hard both on and off the court and I'm excited Abbagayle finished her college career with 2 great wins."
