Tennis Notches First Conference Win @ Bluefield

The Columbia College tennis team secured their first conference win against Bluefield College Sunday by a score of 6-3.The team took a quick 2-0 lead when Bluefield defaulted number 3 doubles and number 6 singles. However, the lead quickly changed when Bluefield scored victories at the number one and two doubles positions leveling the match at 2-all. First year player Michelle Troup put the team in the lead with her victory at the number 5 position, 6-3, 6-0. Her doubles partner, Sanja Pantelic, followed with a win at the number 4 position, 6-0, 6-3. Senior Lydia Royals closed out the match for the Koalas with a 6-3, 6-4 hard fought match at the number 3 position. The match continued with Senior Mara Reiss battling through a first set tiebreak and winning the second set 6-1 at the number 2 position, thus adding to the team victory.
