Volleyball Finishes Recruiting Class

Head coach, Brian Solomon, announced the signing of four players to next year's team.  Tara Prater, Taylor Sellers, Ashley Hardesty, and Ashton Brant round out next year's freshman class.

Tara Prater will come to Columbia College from San Dimas, CA.  She recently graduated from St. Lucy's High School where she was an outside hitter and the team's offensive MVP, as well as named to the Southern California 2nd Team All-CIF Div II.  This past season, St. Lucy's won the Sierra League Championship and Prater was named to the 1st Team All Sierra League and Inland Valley and San Gabriel Valley All Area Teams.

Joining the Koalas from Moncks Corner, SC is Ashton Brant.  Brant was a setter for Northwood Academy in North Charleston, SC.  She was selected to the All-State SCISA team, 1st team All-Low Country, and High School Sports Report All-State team in 08. Along with playing, Brant coached for Carolina Islanders 13U this past club season.

Taylor Sellers will also be traveling a long distance to get to Columbia College.  Sellers is a right side hitter from Chandler, AZ.  Daughter of Kathryn and Michael Sellers, Taylor will graduate from Chandler High School.  Solomon said, "Taylor is a good blocker and can hit a lot of different angles, at 5-11 I think she can really help our play in the front row."

Ashley Hardesty is an outside and right side hitter, graduating from Wren High School in Piedmont, SC.  Hardesty was selected to the All-Region team and most improved player.  She played as an outside hitter for Carolina One Volleyball Club located in Greenville, SC.

Solomon said, "I am very excited for this recruiting class to join our team.  They understand the academic priority of being a student-athlete and will add to the level of competition in the gym."
