Koalas Top North Greenville
The Fighting Koalas volleyball team began a 7 game home stretch with a win against a tough North Greenville squad 3-1, 25-16, 25-19, 17-25, 26-24.
Columbia played an aggressive first two sets and had control of the match. However, the Koalas lost their edge to start the third set and the visiting Crusaders elevated their game to cruise to the 25-17 victory. The match looked to be a repeat of the 5 set battle in Tigersville, SC, earlier this season. Columbia held a 24-22 advantage when Lauren Hawkins recorded 2 of her 3 aces on the night to tie up the fourth set and force a Columbai timeout. The Koalas were able to close out the match on a kill by Taylor Sellers and Prater's 18th kill of the night
Columbia had three players register double digits in kills. Nikki Golston recorded 10 kills while hitting .471 and Aarika Munro and Tara Prater each recorded double doubles. Munro had 15 kills and 18 digs, while Prater marked 18 kills and 15 digs. Sophomore Liz Richardson put in another strong night setting with 49 assists.
The victory puts the Koalas at a program best 20-5 on the season. They host Berry College and Shorter College this weekend in an important SSAC matchup.
