Volleyball Opens with Win at Home
COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Columbia College volleyball team opened with a strong performance at home Saturday afternoon, defeating Johnson & Wales University in three sets, 25-6, 25-11, 25-9. Seniors Nikki Golston and Ashley Darden led Columbia in hitting with 9 and 5 kills respectively.
Golston had a dominant hitting performance with 9 kills on 14 attempts with 1 error. Also, adding to the offense was sophomore Tara Prater who finished a perfect 5 for 5. The Fighting Koalas were also strong from the service line, finishing the match with 15 aces while holding Johnson & Wales to only 1 ace.
The volleyball team will look to build on Saturday’s performance as they host Spartanburg Methodist College in a scrimmage on Tuesday night before heading to Limestone College and Queens University for four games over Friday and Saturday.
