Volleyball Finishes 20-12 on the Year
COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Fighting Koalas volleyball program finished their 2012 season this past weekend at the Appalachain Athletic Conference Tournament. Columbia seeded No.6 pulled an upset in the first round and recieved 10 conference awards on the year.
The Fighting Koalas upset No. 3 Milligan College Lady Buffs in the first round of the AAC tournament in a 5 set thriller. Columbia went on to the next round of the tournament and lost in another 5 set barn burner to Montreat College in the quarter finals. Making the All-tournament team for Columbia was Senior Outside, Aarika Munro who lead the way for Columbia's offense in the upset against Milligan with 18 kills and Junior Setter, Jacqui Anderson who has posted a second straight season with over 1000 assists.
The Fighting Koalas were recognized for their success with Sophomore, Caitlin Brickley being named to the 1st team all conference-Brickely lead the conference in hitting percentage with an average of .329. Senior Outside, Taylor Sellers and Junior Setter, Jacqui Anderson were named to the 2nd team all conference. Autumn McManus was named to the All Freshman Team. Columbia also had 4 team memebers named to the All-Academic team with a GPA of 3.25 or higher: Chloe Perkins, Shelby Foster, Cassaundra Rogers, and Ashley Hardesty.
Columbia finished their season with an overall record of 20-12.
