Koala Volleyball Comes Up Short At Life University Tournament

The Columbia College Volleyball Team was back in action over the weekend, competing in the Life University Running Eagles Classic at Life University.  On Friday, Columbia suffered it's first setback to Coker College 3-0.  Set scores 17-25, 7-25, 18-25.  Senior Outside Hitter Kara Anderson led the way on offense with 10 kills and .308 attack percentage.  In the second match of the day, Columbia was dealt a 3-0 loss to Brenau University.  Scores were 21-25, 23-25, 18-25.  Senior Middle Hitter Moriah Brookins led in the match with 8 kills and .333 attack percentage. First Year Libero Maris Irick tallied 11 digs on defense.


On Saturday, Columbia squared off against Webber International and came up short 3-0. Set scores were 14-25, 18-25, 15-25.  Seniors Kara Anderson and Caylee Antilley had 8 kills apiece.  Senior Richelle Prijic led defensively with 10 digs.  In the final match of the tournament, the Koalas faced off against the home team Life Running Eagles.  The Koalas showed fight in the final match but the home team took control early and handed Columbia a 3-1 loss.  Scores were 23-25, 17-25,25-17.14-25.  Richelle Prijic had a match high 13 kills followed closely by Kara Anderson with 12.  First Setter Anastasia Brackin dished out 29 assists and Maris Irick led defensively with 14 digs. 


Koala Volleyball is back in action at home next weekend Friday September 9 vs North Greenville at 6:00 pm and then take on AAC member Montreat on Saturday September 10 at 1:00 pm.
