Nikki enters her second year as an assistant volleyball coach with the Fighting Koalas volleyball program. In addition to her coaching position, she is also the Graduate Assistant studying Higher Education for the Columbia College Athletic Department. She began her coaching career in 2009 as a volunteer assistant for Magnum 17 Elite, Magnum Academy instructor and Spring Youth League coach. The following club season she assisted the Magnum 18 Mizuno team to a Palmetto Regional Championship coupled with a 13th place finish at the USAV Junior National Championships in Atlanta, GA. To begin the 2012 volleyball season, She took on her first head coaching responsibility as the Dutch Fork Middle School Volleyball coach. In the same season, at the Palmetto Regional Championships she led the Magnum 14 Black to an open division, second in sliver (6th overall) finish. Also in her first year she guided her team through an undefeated day of competition to win the CSRA Blowout tournament in Augusta, GA, coupled with a few Top 10 tournament finishes throughout the season. During the 2012-13 club season Nikki led the Magnum 14 Mizuno team to a open division, third in gold (3rd overall) finish at the 2013 Palmetto Regional Championships. Marking that team as the top finishers in the Midlands area.
Golston started her playing career as a freshman while competing at Dutch Fork High School before graduating Golston was recognized by the South Carolina High School League as an All State, All Region, All Area and North/South All-star in her senior season. Golston began her collegiate career at Spartanburg Methodist College in 2005. Before transferring from Spartanburg Methodist, Golston was honored with consecutive NJCAA All American Nominations, Team MVP, and 1st team All-Conference awards. Golston came to Columbia to compete as a Fighting Koala in 2009 and helped lead her team to their first 20+ season in Fighting Koala history. Golston received the Coaches Award (2010) and Team MVP (2011) before graduating from the program with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Psychology.
