MBB's Smith Named AAC Offensive Player of the Week

 - Columbia College redshirt freshman forward Zach Smith of Columbia was named the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Men's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.

Smith helped the Koala men to two wins on the week, posting at least 20 points in each game, as the team improved to 6-11 overall and 3-5 in the conference and into a tie for 9th place.

The next set of awards will be announced on Jan. 12.

• Averaged 23.0 points and 6.5 rebounds in helping Columbia to a 2-0 record with wins over Carolina University and Bluefield during the week of Dec. 30-Jan. 3.

• Shot over 77 percent (17 of 22 shots) from the floor.

• Added 5 assists, 2 steals, and 1 block.

• Smith is averaging 9.4 points/game and 3.7 rebounds/game while shooting 58% from the floor and 43% from three.

• This is his first weekly honor of the season.
