Koala Men Drop Rivalry Game vs CIU

COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Columbia College men's soccer team fell 3-0 at home to rival Columbia International Wednesday evening.

Sophomore Goalkeeper Jake Marks made four saves on 7 shots on goal while freshman defender Andrew Wilson led with 3 shots and two on goal, including two goals that were erased due to offsides penalties. CC had thought they had taken a 1-0 lead near the end of the first half to only have a late offside call take it off the board. Wilson then scored again in the second half to tie the game at 1 but had it erased again. Had those goals stood, the game could have gone in a much different direction.

CIU scored in the 37th minute of play to take a 1-0 lead and a 7-4 shot count edge into the break. CIU added to their lead in the 65th minute with another goal before putting out of reach in the 76th minute with their third and final goal. Columbia outshot the Rams 7-6 in the second half

The Koalas fall to 1-2-2 on the year and 0-2 in the AAC while CIU improves to 4-2-1 and 3-0 in the conference.

The men will remain home to finish out their homestand by hosting Reinhardt University Saturday at 1:00 pm.
