Men's Soccer Storm Past Pikeville 3-1

COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Columbia College men's soccer team rolled to a 3-1 AAC win over visiting Pikeville (KY) on Wednesday afternoon.

The Koalas got on the board first as Alex Koye scored a beautiful goal in the 14th minute off an assist from senior defender Jakeem Amuda to put CC up early 1-0.

Columbia then got an insurance goal early in the second half as a tackle in the box resulted in Theodosis Karouzou's penalty kick goal.

CC kept the 2-0 lead until the 71st minute when Pikeville climbed to within one goal at 2-1. However, the Koalas then put the game back out of reach with their third goal in the 72nd minute as a streaking sophomore forward Aedan Bowers put the ball into the back of the net for his 3rd goal of the season.

Goalkeeper Nathan Huff got the win making 5 saves on six shots to pick up his first win in net of the season. CC outshot the Bears 10-6 in the second half.

The Koalas improve to 2-6-2 overall and 1-5 in the AAC while UPIKE falls to 1-8.

Columbia will next go back on the road this weekend to face Tennessee Wesleyan on Saturday with a 4 PM kick.
