GRAYSON, KY - The Columbia College men's soccer cruised to their 4th win of the season and 2nd shutout as they crushed Kentucky Christian 5-0 on the road Saturday afternoon.
Senior defender Grayson Allen got the Koalas rolling as he scored a penalty kick in the 5th minute of action to put CC up early. Columbia then added their second goal of the half when senior midfielder Ethan Poungthana scored in the 30th minute off an assist from freshman Inaki Batllori.
Columbia then immediately went up 3-0 in the second half as senior forward Alex Koye put it in the net off an assist from sophomore Aedan Bowers in the 47th minute, his 3rd goal of the season. Senior MF Jovany Barraza then added his first goal of the season scoring in the 55th minute on an assist from Allen.
The Koalas outshot the Knights 12-2 in the second half as senior midfiedler Dan Stryffeler capped off the scoring with his goal in the 58th minute. Goalkeepers Nathan Huff and Brayden Garcia also combined to make 2 saves on two shots.
Columbia improves to 4-9-2 overall and 3-8 in the AAC while KCU falls to 0-16-1 overall and 0-11 in the conference.
The Koalas will next go back on the road to face Bluefield on Wednesday at 4 PM.
