Men's Tennis Knocks Off Brevard on Senior Day; Women defeat Benedict

COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Columbia College men's tennis team defeated Div. III foe Brevard College 6-1 at home on Senior Day Friday afternoon on a warm spring day.

Senior Waldo Bosch led the Koalas winning his #2 singles match 6-1, 6-1 after teaming with sophomore Gabriel Kian to win the top doubles match, 6-1 as well. Also winning in doubles to secure the point were senior Owen Brumfield and freshman Noah Snipes 6-3 while the freshman duo of Len Spanier and Torben Paas fell in a close match going down 7-6 in a tiebreaker at #2 doubles.

Brumfield and Snipes also dominated their singles matches as Brumfield won 6-0, 6-3 at the #5 spot while Snipes won 6-1, and 6-2 at the number six to help secure the win. Also winning singles matches in third set tiebreakers were Spanier at the top line and Paas at the fourth line. They each lost their opening sets before storming back to win the second sets 6-1 (Spanier) and 6-3 (Paas) while each winning the third set tiebreak 10-3.

The Koala men are now 7-8 on the year and will next head to the AAC Tournament in Chattanooga, TN on Monday as the #7 seed to take on #2 seed SCAD-Atlanta in a 2:00 PM quarterfinal match.

Lady Koala Tennis Defeats Benedict 4-3
 
The Lady Koala women also won their non-conference matchup on Friday as well defeating Benedict College 4-3 to pick up their 7th win. The #2 doubles tandem of senior Natalia Diaz and sophomore Rachel Thompson led the way winning 7-5 to help the Koalas clinch the doubles point.
 
The women improve to 7-6 on the year and will also next head to the AAC Tournament in Tennessee as the #7 seed to take on second seeded SCAD-Atlanta on Monday at the Champions Club at 10:00 am.
