Men's Cross Country Finishes 9th at Furman
GREENVILLE, S.C. - The Columbia College men's cross country team competed at the Furman 6K Invitational Saturday morning at Furman University in Greenville. The men came away with a 9th place finish out of 10 mostly Division 1 teams while they were third among non-D1 schools.
Columbia tallied 257 points finishing ahead of D-2 Allen (SC) and just behind D-2 Claflin (SC). Freshman Jesse Gourde led the Koalas with a 74th place finish out of 103 runners in a time of 22:51 while senior Kristian Sanchez was 82nd in 24:04.
Coming in behind them was freshman Elijah Fink in 85th place in 24:16 while freshmen Will Parker and Jalen Miller finished 4th and 5th on the Koalas to complete the scoring coming in 92nd and 93rd place. Parker had a time of 25:33 while Miller was 25:34. Also competing and finishing right behind them in 94th was DJ McGriff-Agers in 25:56.
Three other Koalas also competed in the meet with freshmen Jimmy Bates, Jordon Miller, and sophomore Jude Dill running times of 27:35, 27:41, and 28:36 respectively.
The Koalas will next head to Brevard, NC on Friday to compete in the Brevard College Classic at 4:30 pm.
