Men's XC Competes in Brevard 8K
BREVARD, N.C. - The Columbia College men's cross country team competed at the Brevard Classic in the mountains of NC over the weekend running an 8K for the first time this season. The team went on to place 14th overall in the mostly NCAA Div. II meet.
D-2 Tusculum University (TN) won the meet followed by three more D-2 schools in Emory & Henry Univ. (Va.), Univ. of North Greenville (SC), Newberry College (SC) and D-1 Presbyterian College (SC) in the top five while Milligan (TN) and Bryan College (TN) were 6th and 7th. Among D-3 and NAIA schools, the Koalas were 4th out of five.
CC was led by freshman Jesse Gourde running a time of 29:48 to place 56th out of 120 competitors while freshman teammate Alex Blake was 68th in 30:28. freshman Elijah Fink then came in 78th in 30:46 while senior Kristian Sanchez was 81st in 30:53. Freshman Will Parker was then 98th in 31:57 to complete the scoring.
Also running were freshman Jalen Miller placing 106th in 33:39 while freshman Jimmy Bates came across in 35:47. Fellow freshman Jordon Miller was right behind in 35:50 while freshman DJ McGriff-Agers finished in 37:20.
The cross country teams will next be competing in the Live in Lou 8K Classic in Louisville, KY in two weeks on October 4.
