LITTLE RIVER, S.C. - The Columbia College Softball team split their games on day two of the Fastpitch Dreams Myrtle Beach Classic on Friday. The Koalas fell 8-0 to Grove City College (Pa.) in their first game and then came back to defeat Hilbert College (NY) 9-2 later Friday.

The Koalas improve to 10-8 on the season while the wins this weekend helped contribute to head coach Leighann Newberry achieving her 100th career win. CC will next conclude their Myrtle Beach trip with games against Div. III opponents, PSU-Altoona and PSU-Beaver on Saturday beginning at 10:00 am.

In the 9-2 win during the afternoon game, the Koalas managed just four hits but took advantage of six Hilbert (0-2) errors. Columbia led 2-0 after consecutive RBI groundouts from Joni Littlejohn and Ally Boyd in the first inning before increasing their lead to 7-1 after three innings scoring runs on errors, a passed ball and a sacrifice fly from Blackstone. CC then added two more in the seventh on another groundout before Seymour scored on a wild pitch.
