Basketball Wins Big on the Road

MOUNT VERNON, G.A.-The Fighting Koalas won big today with a final score of 79-73 over Brewton-Parker Lady Barons. This marks the 2nd conference win for Columbia and 6th overall marking the most wins since the start of the program in 2005. Coach Maria Audas couldn’t be more pleased with her team, “The team showed great composure today. This is exactly the type of play we hope to see in this upcoming week.”

Coach Audas should be pleased with her team. Columbia scored 24 points off of turn overs and 27 points came from the Fighting Koala bench from seniors Natasha Blackmore and Emmie Bland. Senior gaurd Kiara Fefie shot 6 of 12 from field goal range and was 2 for 2 from the free throw line. Not only did Columbia captalize from inside the paint they out rebounded the Lady Barons on the defensive end with sophomore Krystle Mrrissette pulling down 10 of their 39 rebounds on the night.

Columbia College looks to finish their season this month with a difficult week on the road facing Southern Wesleyan and Emmanuel. Catch the basketball team back in action at home on February 19th against Brenau University in the Godbold Center.
