Basketball Finishes Season with Awards and Playoff Loss

The Columbia College Basketball team closed out their season at the AAC Championships in Kingsport, TN, while a number of Koalas were honored for their achievements.

The Koalas had their first ever AAC First Team member in sophomore Azia Gibson.  Gibson lead the team in 3 out of the 5 main categories, averaging 15.6 points, 13.7 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game.

In addition, Senior Taylor Smith was named to the AAC Champions of Character Team, while there were 7 Koalas named All-Academic Team. Seniors Claire Boesman, Jaymee Lynn Cruz and Taylor Smith, Juniors Jennifer Giles and Kinsley Hall, and sophomores Anna Outlaw and Alison Sobataka were all recognized for their quality achievements in the classroom.

On the court, the Koalas dropped a heartbreaker to St. Andrews in the opening round, losing 72-62 to end their season at 9-21.
