Koalas Post First Win Against CIU

The Koalas basketball squad bounced back from a tough season-opener to post their first win of the season against Columbia International University on Tuesday night. The team's 75-49 road win followed a loss at Allen University Saturday evening. Coach Chen was proud with the recovery and execution at CIU Tuesday. "We stuck with our game plan better tonight. Halftime adjustments were key. I'm very proud of the attention to detail and the fundamental poise shown by our team. It's a good sign of things to come this season," remarked Chen.

Leading the way for the Koalas were senior Shay King-Dunson with 11 points followed by 10 points from first-year Amber Sherrill. Also key in the win was the squad's rebounding performance (50 rebounds) and their fastbreak points, which allowed them to push the 10 point lead at the half to 26 by the game's end.

The Koalas' will look to split with Allen University when they host them Thursday night during the first home game of the season. Tip-off is set at 6:30 pm.
