PIKEVILLE, KY - The Columbia College women's basketball team fell 73-57 on the road at AAC foe University of Pikeville (Ky.) on Saturday afternoon in Kentucky.
UPike got off to a fast start leading 23-6 after the first quarter. However, the Koalas did not quit and outscored the Bears 23-18 in the second quarter and 51-50 over the final three quarters. UP did limit the Koalas to just 12 points in the third quarter as they led 57-41 going into the fourth where then each team scored 16 points apiece. CC could get no closer than 10 points in the second half as UPike shot 49 percent overall and 35% from three.
Columbia shot just 29% overall and only 28.5% from three with junior guard Anaya Muhammad leading the team scoring 13 points with three 3-pointers, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and a block. Sophomore point guard Makiah Thompson added 4 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and a steal while freshmen guards Krislyn Wilder and Jadah O'Bryant combined for 10 points, 3 rebounds, and two threes.
Freshman forward Ronni Harper also added 6 points and 3 rebounds off the bench while senior forward De'Asia Feaster posted 4 points and 7 rebounds. Junior guard Tysonia Lowe scored 6 points with two steals off the bench as well.
Columbia drops to 10-14 overall and 6-10 in the conference while Pikeville improves to 11-11 and 10-4 in the league. The Lady Koalas next return home to host Johnson University on Wednesday evening at 5:00 pm.
