Muhammad and Thompson Named to AAC All-Conference Second Team
KINGSPORT, Tenn. - The Appalachian Athletic Conference announced the 2025-26 Women's Basketball All-AAC Team and Awards on Tuesday evening from Kingsport, TN.
Columbia College guards Anaya Muhammad and Makiah Thompson were each named to the AAC All-Conference Second Team for their tremendous seasons while Thompson was also named to the All-Freshmen team.
The awards were voted on and selected by the women's basketball coaches of the AAC.
Muhammad, a junior shooting guard, and Thompson, a redshirt freshman point guard, each helped lead the Columbia offense all season long with Muhammad averaging a team-best 12.6 points/game on 32.5% shooting from three-point range (49 threes-8th in AAC) along with 2.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists. Thompson averaged 11.6 points/game along with 4.6 assists and 3.6 rebounds. Thompson totaled 63 steals, ranking 2nd in the conference and 130 assists to lead the AAC while ranking 3rd with 4.6 assts/g.
Four Koalas made the grade to earn a spot on the All-Academic Team including Muhammad, Jala Hutchins, Chassidy Rookard and Lauren Wearbon, while Muhammad was also named to the Champions of Character Team.
The 8th seeded Lady Koalas (13-15) will open up AAC Tournament play with a play-in game against 9th seeded Montreat College (10-16) on Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 pm from the MeadowView Marriott Convention Center & Conference Resort in Kingsport, TN.
