Lees-McRae Too Much for Women's Lacrosse

COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Columbia College women's lacrosse team fell 22-0 to NCAA Div. II foe Lees-McRae College from Younts Stadium Wednesday afternoon.

LMC got out to a fast start scoring five goals within the first five minutes of play forcing a Koala timeout. The Lady Bobcats then took a 7-0  lead into the second quarter. LMC added five more goals in the second to take a 12-0 lead into the break.

Trailing 11-0, the Koalas then thought they had scored their first goal of the game near the end of the second quarter when junior defender Briana Huff caused a LMC turnover and then collected the ground ball and took it the length of the field to score the goal. However, the goal was disallowed due to Huff being in the goalie crease when she shot the ball.

LMC then added 7 more goals in the third quarter and three more in the fourth for the win improving to 2-3 on the season. Columbia falls to 0-3 and will next head to Michigan for spring break to take on two NAIA foes next Monday and Wednesday.

Freshman goalie Lillianna Imhof made 8 saves on 30 shots on goal while Huff and sophomore attacker Madison Dibert each recorded shots on goal. Sophomore midfielder Meg Gill led with six draw control wins while collecting three ground balls along with freshman attacker Taylor Gipson adding four ground ball pickups as well. Huff also had two caused turnovers.
