Soccer Gets New Koala from Down Under

COLUMBIA, S.C. - Isabella Jones, an Australian native who has been playing soccer since she was a kid, is crossing the ocean to play soccer for the Fighting Koalas this fall.

As a part of the Spalding Olympics Soccer Club her team became club champions twice  and was later selected to attend the 2005 Kanga Cup in Canberra, Australia. She currently captains for Marconi Soccer Club which she led her team to two premierships and a Knockout Cup Victory.  Jones has had the pleasure of playing in the UK, training with such teams as Bath University, Bristol Academy and the Manchester City Ladies. Her awards throughout her years include the Women’s Association Fairest and Best in both 2008 and 2009, and Leading Goal Scorer for 2009.  Always having the dream of furthering her soccer career, Jones is excited to be a part of the Columbia College Soccer program. “Hopefully Coach Kiper can help me realize my potential, which will help our team realize ours,” Jones said. “I can’t wait to meet my teammates and other students and look forward to what life has to offer at Columbia College.”
