Zarefoss to Tend Goal for Columbia

CARTERSVILLE, GA. - Woodland High School goalkeeper, Lauren Zarefoss signed with the Columbia College Fighting Koalas soccer team Thursday at her high school in Cartersville, Georgia.

Zarefoss, who has been a four year starter for the Wildcats, holds school records for the most saves in a game (28), season shutouts (5) and career shutouts (9). Zarefoss has been on the school Honor Roll for four years and has received a Community Service Award for more than 60 hours of volunteer work; she has also done student leadership within her church. Earning a 3.75 GPA, Zarefoss plans on attending Columbia College with the ambition to have a career in the journalism circuit, mainly sports broadcasting. “I love everything about sports,” she said. “I feel fantastic. I’m glad I’m secured at a school.” Her mother, Melissa Zarefoss and her sister, Krysten Zarefoss were both present at Thursday’s signing.
