Koalas Fight In Overtime
COLUMBIA,SC- The Fighting Koalas soccer team held their last home match against the Brewton-Parker Lady Barons last night in Younts Soccer Stadium. Columbia College hungry for a win struggled in the first half, finding themselves behind 2-0. At the beginning of the second half, the Fighting Koalas pushed through the Lady Barons defense and put pressure on Brewton-Parker's goal keeper, Lashley.
A total of 9 shots on goal- most of them coming in the second half - Freshman, Jessica Martinez had a break through to Columbia College first year Clare Williamson. Sophomore Emily Deary also put in a shot in the back of the net giving the offense the spark to push the game into overtime. Columbia worked hard in overtime, goal keep Elise Grider having 9 saves, and fought to give the Koalas the edge but fell short losing in overtime to the Lady Barons 3-2.
The Fighting Koalas are currently 7-10 overall and looks to play their final game against Truett-McConnell this Saturday, October 30th @ 3:00 p.m.
