Koala Women's Soccer Adds Riley Barnes for 2022

Columbia College (SC) Head Women's Soccer Coach Robert Hunter is excited to announce the signing of Riley Barnes for the Class of 2022.

Barnes, who comes to Columbia College from Gilbert High School (Gilbert, SC), is the daughter of Andy and Tammy Barnes and is the sister of current Koalas player Kaylee Barnes.

She is a four-year starter and two-year captain for Gilbert High School, where she was the All-Region Player of the Year in 2021 and an All-State 3A Selection and the Lexington County Chronicle Player of the Year. Barnes has played club for the Lexington SA 04 Girls Gold team, the three-time SCYSA State Champions.

Barnes intends to major in Middle School Social Studies Education, with a career goal of being a History teacher.

On her decision to attend Columbia College, Barnes stated, "I chose Columbia College because I wanted to be able to play with my sister again, and I liked how fun the atmosphere is." She continued, "I am so grateful for this opportunity and can't wait to start the season."

Coach Hunter commented about Barnes, "Riley is a versatile player who can excel in a couple of different positions. Her athleticism and strength will really help us next fall. I am excited to see how she performs during her high school season this spring, and I look forward to welcoming her to campus in the fall!"
