Koalas Win in Double Overtime Against Tigers

Sammie McDaniel and the rest of the Koala defenders were fantastic in the 1-0 2OT win.

The Columbia College Koalas were able to battle to a thrilling 1-0 double overtime victory in the first round of the AAC playoffs at home against the Brenau University Golden Tigers on Tuesday evening.

In what was a very back and forth affair, the scores were knotted until the 107th minute of the game when the Koalas finally found the winner.  Madison Stewart's ball over the top was controlled by Jordan Myers, and she was able to cut inside two defenders before dribbling past a third and sliding the ball past the onrushing keeper for the game winner.

Prior to the goal, both teams had chances to win the game with Myers having a number of chances saved by the Tigers' keeper, while Columbia's goalkeepers, Emma Parker and Mistify Honstein, both stepped up in pressure moments to make good saves.

Defensively, the Koalas fought valiantly with all of the defenders who played a part in the game contributing to the effort to keep the Golden Tigers offense at bay.

Having won the 7v10 matchup, the Koalas (11-7) will move on to face the number two seeded Truett McConnell Bears on Saturday at TMC.  Game time TBD.
