COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Columbia College women's soccer team fell 5-1 in their season opener Tuesday evening against Spartanburg Methodist College from Younts Stadium.
Freshman Malia Kincaid got the Lady Koalas on the board first scoring in the 7th minute of action off an assist from senior forward Jordan Myers to put CC up early 1-0. However, SMC rallied back tying the game in the 22nd minute off a set play. The Lady Pioneers then added thier second goal of the game in the 31st minute scoring off a rebound shot to go up 2-1 at the break.
In the second half, however, SMC (1-1) added three goals in a span of 8 minutes to put the game away unfortunately, scoring in the 58th, 63rd and 66th minutes of action. SMC won the shot count 11-6 after leading just 7-6 at the break.
Goalkeeper Teagan Eisenring made 5 saves on 10 shots on goal while Kincaid and Myers led with shots on goal.
The Koalas (0-1) will next remain home to host first year NCCAA school Carolina Christian on Thursday at 6 PM from Younts Stadium.
