Columbia Women Fall on the road at Milligan

MILLIGAN, Tenn. – The Columbia College women's soccer squad faced off with Milligan University Saturday afternoon in another Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) bout but fell 4-1 on the road.

The opening half of play was tightly contested through the first 25 minutes with both teams having chances before Milligan went up 1-0 in the 27th minute. MU then added another goal 10 minutes later to put the Buffaloes up 2-0 heading into the break while barely leading the shot count 5-4.

Columbia would make the contest much more interesting just 31 seconds into the second half to make it 2-1 on a goal from senior forward Jordan Myers off an assist from junior defender Adrianna Machado.

Milligan (3-4-1) answered with their third goal from 25 yards out that floated over the keeper's head in the 59th minute to make it 3-1. MU would then put the game out of reach in the 72nd minute with a finish into the bottom corner to make it 4-1 for the Buffs.

CC won the shot count 8-7 while sophomore keeper Teagan Eisenring made 4 saves on 8 shots on goal.

Columbia falls to 3-5 overall and 1-4 in the conference and will next return home to host U. of Pikeville on Wednesday at 3:30 pm.
