Women's Soccer Falls Just Short 1-0

COLUMBIA, SC - The Columbia College women's soccer team fell just short against visiting Pikeville (KY) on Wednesday going down 1-0 in a closely-played game throughout.

Pikeville scored their goal in the 21st minute of the first half to go up 1-0 early. They then limited the Koalas to only 3 shots in the half taking a 5-3 shot lead into the break.

Goalkeeper Teagan Eisenring got the loss making four saves on five shots while CC outshot the Lady Bears 6-5 in the second half. Forwards Jordan Myers, a senior, and freshman Malia Kincaid combined to attempt five shots on the day including shots on goal from each of them that just missed the net and would have put CC on top. The Koalas also just missed tying the game in the final seconds as Kincaid's cross field pass to Kianna Dodge was saved by the UPike keeper.

The Koalas go to 3-6 overall and 1-5 in the AAC while UPIKE improves to 5-1-1 and 4-0 in the league.

Columbia will next go back on the road this weekend to face Tennessee Wesleyan on Saturday with a 1:00 PM kick.
